Something followed me home from the Scottish Highlands - three months later still happening

I'm going to sound absolutely mental, but I need to tell someone who might actually understand what's going on here.

Back in September, I was hiking in the Scottish Highlands near Braemar. Solo trip, three days out. On the second night - September 14th around 11pm - I woke up in my tent absolutely convinced something was watching me. The hairs on my neck were up, my heart was racing, the works. I didn't see anything, but I felt something.

I packed up and hiked out the next morning. Haven't been back since.

Here's where it gets properly strange: I think it followed me home. I live in Edinburgh now, in a flat in Leith. Since late September, I've had the distinct feeling of being watched in my flat. Not constantly - just certain rooms, certain times. My cat absolutely refuses to go into my bedroom after about 9pm. The temperature in there drops noticeably (I've got a thermometer, I've checked properly). And I keep having the same dream - something tall, impossibly thin, just standing at the foot of my bed.

I'm not sleeping well. I'm not eating well. My mates think I'm having a breakdown, but I know something's wrong. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Particularly anything that follows you from a place?

This is serious and I'm not going to dismiss you. What you're describing sounds like a classic case of something becoming... attached. The Highlands have a reputation for a reason. Before we go further, I need to ask: have you experienced any physical symptoms? Marks on your body, unexplained injuries, that sort of thing?

Please see a GP. I'm not being sceptical - I'm being genuinely concerned. Sleep deprivation, stress, and anxiety can create very convincing felt presences. The temperature drop could be confirmation bias. I'm not saying nothing happened, but you need a medical baseline first.

Get your flat cleansed. Properly. Not by some dodgy spiritual healer - I mean a legitimate practitioner. In Edinburgh you should reach out to the Pentland Paranormal group, they've got contacts. This needs professional intervention.

The cat refusing the bedroom is actually significant. Animals are more sensitive to these things than we are. Don't dismiss that as coincidence.

Have you considered that you might have had an actual encounter in the Highlands and you're now experiencing trauma response? That's not less real than paranormal explanations, but it's worth exploring. PTSD from wilderness experiences is documented.

I live in Edinburgh too. If you want to chat properly about this offline, DM me. Not going to push you toward either explanation - just want to help you figure out what's happening.
