Posting this because I genuinely don't know what I saw, and I'm tired of my mates taking the piss.

June 21st, about 11 PM (summer solstice, though I didn't think much of it at the time). I was camping near Cairngorm with my girlfriend. We'd settled in for the night - brilliant weather, still fairly light despite it being late. We heard something moving through the scrub maybe 80 metres away. Not a deer. Not a wildcat. This thing was big. The grass was moving in a way that suggested something genuinely massive, like a moose or worse.

I grabbed my torch and swept it toward the sound, but it just... stopped. The movement ceased instantly. When we packed up to leave in the morning, we found massive claw marks on a fallen tree about 20 metres from our tent. I know what bears look like (have been to Canada), and these weren't bear claws. They were too defined, almost like talons.

I took some photos but they're rubbish - too dark. Has anyone had similar experiences on the Highlands? Trying to figure out if I'm mad or if there's something genuinely undocumented up there.

Could be a lynx? Scotland's got breeding populations now (or allegedly, the government denies it of course). Lynx are the size of a large dog though, not sure they'd leave claw marks like that. Definitely upload the photos though, even if they're poor quality.

Mate, you camped on the solstice near Cairngorm and heard something strange. That's like the opening to every cryptid encounter story. Not saying you're lying, but the setup's almost too perfect. That said, the Highlands do have weird pockets where things don't add up. Worth investigating further.

I've heard similar accounts from hikers in that region. Usually gets dismissed as a misidentified deer or wild boar, but the claw mark detail is interesting. Did you measure them? Could you describe the shape more precisely? That might help rule out known fauna.

There's absolutely something in the Scottish Highlands that the authorities won't acknowledge. Whether it's relict bears, lynx, or something weirder, who knows. Summer solstice activity spike fits the pattern I've been tracking for three years. Please do upload those photos - even bad ones can reveal details you didn't notice in person.
