This happened on a Tuesday morning, October 15th, about 8:40 AM on the Piccadilly Line between King's Cross and Russell Square. I was commuting to work, train was moderately busy, and I noticed a man standing near the doors - nothing weird about him at first. Middle-aged, grey suit, reading a newspaper. Standard commuter.

The train went through a tunnel (as it does on the Piccadilly Line), and when we came out the other side, he was gone. Not gotten off - I watched the doors the entire time. No one got out at Russell Square while I was looking. He literally just vanished mid-journey.

What made it weirder was that three other people were staring at the space where he'd been, so I know I didn't imagine it. I caught eyes with a woman opposite me and we both just silently acknowledged that we'd seen something that didn't make sense. No one said anything. Very London.

I've been trying to rationalise it for months now and I genuinely can't. I'm a fairly rational person (accountant, logical brain, etc.) so this has absolutely haunted me. Has anyone experienced anything similar on the Underground? Is there a known phenomenon of this, or am I just losing it?

London Underground is actually notorious for this sort of thing. There are dozens of reports of people vanishing on the Tube - sometimes attributed to time slips, sometimes to interdimensional bleed-throughs, which sounds mad but there are patterns. The Piccadilly Line especially has weird energy.

Could you have experienced a minor loss of consciousness? Sometimes people have microsleeps without realising - you might have blinked for longer than you think and he got off during that time. Though the fact that other people noticed is interesting.

This genuinely made me laugh. Perfect summary of experiencing something impossible on public transport in London. Everyone just pretends nothing happened and returns to their commute.

The Piccadilly Line has a seriously weird history. There's loads of documented paranormal activity there. Some theories suggest it's related to the old plague pits that were supposedly beneath parts of London, others think it's just residual energy from the Blitz. Either way, your sighting isn't unique - there are dozens of similar reports.

Did he take the newspaper with him? That's the detail I'm most curious about. If he actually vanished, what happened to the newspaper? These specific details sometimes help narrow down what's happening.
