Saw something hovering over the treeline behind my house last night and I can't stop thinking about it

Mate, the treeline sighting is basically a rite of passage on this forum, half of us have been there. What was the movement like - was it drifting slow and steady or doing that sudden stop-start thing that makes your brain go "nope, that's not a drone"? That detail matters more than people realise. I had something similar over Sherwood Forest about three years back, just this silent hovering light that couldn't make up its mind whether it wanted to move or not, and I stood there like a muppet with my camera in my pocket the whole time. Did you manage any photos or video at all? Even a blurry one is better than nothing and we've had some decent analysis threads on here before where people picked up details the original poster missed completely.

The stop-start movement is the thing that always gets me, because birds and planes just dont do that. What direction was it moving when it finally left the area? That detail matters more than people realise.
