I've had similar out here in Pendle and the positioning relative to natural boundaries like woodland edges is often not random.
Did you manage to get any photos? Even a blurry one on your phone gives us something to work with. The light characteristics matter a lot too, was it a steady glow, pulsing, did the colour shift at all? These details sound minor but they genuinely help narrow things down.
Also how long did it hover before it moved or disappeared? Duration is one of the most underrated data points people forget to record in the moment. Would love to hear more detail from you on this one.
