The detail about it hovering rather than moving in a straight line is what gets me - drones have a very particular wobble when they're fighting wind, and genuine unknowns tend to hold position in a way that feels almost deliberate. Like the thing is aware it's being watched.
What was the size relative to the tree line? That's the first thing I always try to nail down when I'm looking into a report like this. Angular size compared to a known reference point tells you so much more than people realise.
Also what time, what direction, and was there any sound? Genuinely asking because I've been cataloguing sightings in the north east for about three years and I'm curious whether this overlaps with anything else I've got on file.
