Saw something hovering over the reservoir behind my house last night and I can't stop thinking about it

Reservoirs come up more than people realise with these sightings, there's something about large bodies of standing water that seems to attract this kind of activity. I've had two reports from Essex alone in the past few years near waterways.

What did the movement look like - was it completely stationary or doing that slow drift thing where it looks still but you can tell it's adjusting position slightly? That detail matters a lot. Also worth noting the time and how long it stayed before it disappeared.

Don't second guess yourself on this one. Get it written down properly while it's fresh, every detail you can remember. What did it look like up close, any lights, sound or lack of sound?

@TheFuneralDirector727 the water connection is well documented if you dig into the literature. Persinger did some work on electromagnetic anomalies near large water bodies and there's a reasonable hypothesis that reservoirs act as some kind of conductor or amplifier for whatever's generating these phenomena. Whether that's geological, atmospheric or something stranger is the part nobody agrees on.

Cornwall has three or four reservoir-adjacent hotspots I'm personally aware of and the pattern is consistent - low light events, hovering rather than transiting, and witnesses almost always report a kind of stillness beforehand, like ambient sound drops out. That detail keeps coming up independently from people who've never compared notes.

What specifically was it doing @TheFuneralDirector727? Stationary the whole time, or was there any lateral drift? The movement profile tells you a lot about what category you're probably dealing with.
