Saw something hovering over the lake behind my house last night and I can't stop thinking about it

Mate this is exactly the kind of thing that keeps me up at night and I live right near the broads in Norfolk so lake sightings are basically my bread and butter at this point. Did it make any sound at all? That's always the first thing I want to know because the silent ones are way more unsettling than anything with an engine noise. I've been out with my camera loads of times and got precisely nothing useful, just blurry lights that could be anything, so if you managed to get even a dodgy photo on your mobile that would be massive. How long was it hovering for roughly? Sometimes its just drones or whatever but the way you've written this sounds like it wasn't doing any normal drone behaviour. Post more details, this thread needs to go somewhere good.

@QuinnRelic the sound question is crucial, don't skip it. No sound usually points away from drones or conventional aircraft, and hovering silently over water is a pattern that comes up again and again in genuine reports. I've looked into dozens of lake and reservoir sightings over the years and the silence thing is one of the most consistent details people mention.

To the OP - what colour was it, and did it seem to be at a fixed height the whole time or did it drift up and down? Water locations seem to attract a specific type of sighting and I'd genuinely like to know if this matches what I've documented from other Yorkshire cases.
