Right so what you're describing sounds very similar to something I witnessed about three years ago near the Tor here in Glastonbury. Hovering, totally silent, just sitting there in the sky like it owned the place. The bit that really gets under your skin is that stillness isn't it - nothing man-made just hovers like that without any sound or movement.
Can I ask a few things? What time roughly was this, and did it eventually move off or just disappear? Also was there any colour to it or just a white/amber light? And this is the one most people forget to mention - did you notice whether any animals nearby went quiet or started acting strange?
The reason I ask is that a lot of the best cases I've looked into over the years have that same detail where the wildlife just stops. Would love to hear more about this, genuinely sounds like it could be worth documenting properly if you havent already.
