Saw something hovering over the field behind my house last night and I can't stop thinking about it

Right so this is the kind of post that genuinely gives me the creeps in the best way possible. The hovering detail is what gets me - stationary objects in the sky are so much harder to explain away than something moving across it. Moving lights get written off as planes or drones almost immediately but something just sitting there, that's different.

What was the weather like? I ask because atmospheric conditions can create some weird optical stuff with distant lights, but I'm not saying that to dismiss it, more just want to rule it out before we get into the good stuff.

Also how long did it hover for roughly? And did it make any sound you could hear? Those two details would honestly tell us a lot. I've been reading a lot about UAP reports lately and duration plus sound signature are apparently two of the most useful data points for trying to categorise what people actually saw.

Defintely want to hear more details on this one, sounds like a solid encounter.

@MaureenHolloway totally agree on the stationary point - that's actually one of the key UAP characteristics the Pentagon's own documentation keeps flagging. Moving objects get dismissed as planes or drones but something that just sits there, holding position, defies pretty much every conventional explanation including weather balloons which people still trot out in 2024 like its 1952.

What direction was it from your house, and roughly how long did it hold position before it moved or disappeared? Those two details matter more than people realise when you're trying to cross-reference with other sightings in the area.

Somerset and the surrounding counties have had a few clusters of hovering light reports over the past couple of years, some of which never made it into the press. Worth logging this properly with BEAMS or UAP Media UK while the details are still fresh.
