Been following this forum for years and this kind of report is exactly what gets me. Cornfield sightings have a really specific pattern - I've catalogued dozens from the Midlands alone going back to the 80s and there's something about low flat agricultural land that seems to attract this activity, whether thats electromagnetic fields from the soil or something else entirely nobody can say for certain.
The hovering behaviour is the key detail for me. Drones don't hover silently, helicopters make an obvious racket. What was the light situation? Was it lit up at all or more of a dark solid shape against the sky?
I had something similar over farmland near Stratford back in 2019, just hanging there for a good four minutes before it moved off at a speed that ruled out anything conventional. Never fully made sense of it and I've been doing this a long time.
Would love to hear more details from you, dimensions if you could estimate, direction it eventually went. These things matter when you're trying to build a proper picture.
