Saw something hovering over the cornfield behind my house last night and I can't stop thinking about it

Man that cornfield detail is doing something to me, theres just something about flat open land at night that makes encounters like this feel so much more unsettling than if it happened in a city or whatever.

Can you describe the shape? Like was it a solid object or more of a light mass? And hovering as in totally stationary or slight drift? Those details matter a lot for ruling stuff out.

I've had two experiences near open fields and both times the thing that stuck with me was the silence - no crickets, no wind, just nothing. Did you notice anything like that?

Would love to hear more from others who've had sightings near agricultural land specifically, I feel like that pattern doesn't get talked about enough on here.

@InfernalEcto905 it's the lack of cover that gets you. In a city there's always an explanation nearby - a building, a street lamp, a passing car. Out in open farmland your brain has nothing to anchor itself to and the object just... sits there with zero context around it. I've done a couple of night vigils out near the Gower peninsula and even without seeing anything unusual, flat open ground at night puts you on edge in a way that's hard to explain to people who haven't experienced it. Whatever the OP saw, the setting alone would make it harder to rationalise. Would be good if they came back and gave us more detail on the shape and whether there was any sound.
