I need to preface this by saying my father was a former RAF officer stationed at Bentwaters during 1980-81 and was absolutely not one for conspiracy theories or attention-seeking. He passed away in 2019 and I've only just found a box of old journals in his loft. There are detailed handwritten notes about the Rendlesham Forest incident from the perspective of someone working on the base.

His account doesn't match the public story exactly - he mentions specific times and details that weren't widely reported at the time. He also writes about 'information control' and individuals being instructed what they could discuss. This all happened weeks before the main public incident that everyone knows about.

I'm genuinely unsure whether to share this publicly or keep it private. Part of me thinks it's historically significant, part of me worries about opening up painful family stuff or seeming like I'm making things up for attention. Has anyone else dealt with discovering paranormal documentation from deceased relatives?

Mate, if your dad was RAF personnel at Bentwaters during that period, his testimony is incredibly valuable. This is the sort of first-hand institutional documentation we desperately need. I'd absolutely recommend sharing it - properly anonymised if you're worried about family privacy - because the Rendlesham case has so many gaps and inconsistencies in the official record.

The Rendlesham incident is one of the most significant UFO cases in British history and we've only ever had fragments of the truth. If your father had access to restricted information, that context is priceless for researchers. I'd suggest reaching out to serious UFO research organisations rather than posting it on forums though - better chance it gets properly archived and analysed.

How detailed are we talking? Sketches, technical descriptions, names? If it's genuinely new documentation from an insider perspective, this could reshape understanding of what happened. The official narrative's always felt incomplete.

Just be careful about releasing anything that might've been classified. Even if it's decades old, there could be implications. Definitely consult with a solicitor before publishing anything with identifying details about the base or personnel.

This is exactly the kind of evidence that keeps being suppressed. Your dad sounds like he had integrity - he was probably deeply troubled by the cover-up. I'd encourage you to honour his memory by making sure his account reaches the right researchers. Don't let it disappear.
