Rendlesham Forest documents—what actually happened?

I've been reading about the Rendlesham Forest incident (1980, RAF Bentwaters) and I'm genuinely confused about what the official story is versus what people claim happened.

The RAF's official line seems to be 'nothing happened' or 'explainable phenomena', but there are clearly documented witness statements from military personnel describing something genuinely anomalous. The deputy base commander was there. These aren't randos on the internet, these are trained military observers.

Has anyone read the actual declassified documents? What's the most credible theory about what actually went down? Or is the truth genuinely buried and we'll never know?

The documents that are 'declassified' are mostly heavily redacted or vague. The interesting stuff is what's NOT in the official record. Multiple witnesses have come forward since saying the official reports omit crucial details. Rendlesham represents exactly how government bodies handle UAP - admit the minimum, deny the rest, wait for public interest to fade.

Rendlesham is complicated because some of it might have been explainable (lighthouse beam, unusual weather) but some of the witness testimony suggests something genuinely beyond normal explanation. The cover-up angle is interesting because whether or not a UFO actually landed, the fact that it's being hidden or minimised is the real story.

Being military trained doesn't make someone immune to misidentification though. Military personnel are good at protocol and discipline, not necessarily at identifying unusual phenomena. That said, the sheer number of credible witnesses does make it harder to dismiss.

The thing that gets me is that in 1980, if something actually landed on an RAF base, that would be genuinely massive. The fact that it's been officially brushed off as 'probably a lighthouse' is either the greatest cover-up in history or the most overblown misidentification. Either way, someone's not being straight with us.

Read Halt's documented testimony. He was there, senior officer, nothing to gain from lying about it 40 years later. The official denial is clearly not credible given what he witnessed. Whether it was actually extraterrestrial or human technology is another question, but something definitely happened that the RAF doesn't want scrutinised.
