Recording my sleep cycles to catch evidence of missed time / screen time recommendation?

This might sound paranoid but I've had three incidents over the past two years where I've gone to bed and woken up with no memory of sleep - like, literally no dream recall, no sense of time passing, just immediate unconsciousness and then morning. All happened around 3-4 AM apparently (according to the clock). Each time I felt weirdly exhausted and had small marks on my body (nothing serious, just like scratches or small bruises I couldn't explain).

I'm wondering if I should set up a camera or recording device to see what actually happens during sleep. I've read some abduction accounts and the missing time element is consistent. Obviously this might just be sleep paralysis or something medical, but I'd rather have data than speculation.

Has anyone here done this? What camera or recording system would work best? I'm thinking something that records in infrared so it doesn't disturb my sleep with visible light. Budget around £100-150.

Before you spend money on cameras, genuinely see a GP about this. Unexplained marks and memory gaps could be sleep paralysis (very common, completely explainable), sleepwalking, or even something medical like sleep apnoea. A doctor can actually help. Cameras won't prove or disprove much - you'll just see yourself sleeping.

If you do want to go the recording route, a Wyze camera (about £25) with infrared is actually decent. The image quality is grainy in IR mode but it's cheap, reliable, and has good time-stamping. Just be aware that most of your footage will be deeply boring - it's you sleeping. And if something weird does happen on camera, you'll want to know it's not just you thrashing around due to nightmares.

Unexplained marks on my body
This is worth mentioning to a doctor specifically. Could be friction from bedding, could be you scratching yourself in sleep (more common than you'd think), could be something else. But a sleep specialist can actually run tests. Online paranormal forums can't diagnose medical issues.

The infrared Wyze cameras are good but honestly your mobile phone's night mode might be sufficient for a first attempt. Just prop it on something stable pointing at the bed, set it to record, and see what you get. Costs nothing if you've already got the phone. Experiment before dropping cash.

I've done this actually - recorded about two weeks of sleep footage. Found absolutely nothing anomalous, but I did discover I was grinding my teeth badly (which a dentist confirmed and we sorted with a nightguard). The camera was useful but probably not for the reasons you're thinking. Might help you figure out what's actually going on though.
