Reality hiccup on the Piccadilly Line – anyone else experience time weirdness on the Underground?

This happened to me about three weeks ago (late October, around 5:45pm). I was on the Piccadilly Line heading south from King's Cross. Standard commute, nothing unusual.

I got on at King's Cross. Got off at Leicester Square. Journey should take about 4 minutes. I checked my watch when I boarded: 5:41pm. I checked again when I stepped onto the Leicester Square platform: 5:42pm. One minute later. But here's the thing - I have no memory of the actual journey. No sensation of movement, no stops, no other passengers boarding or leaving. Just... a gap.

My mate says I'm being daft and I probably just wasn't paying attention. But I'm usually hyper-aware of my surroundings. It felt like someone skipped a section of my consciousness. The Piccadilly Line is old - maybe there's something electromagnetic down there? Has anyone else had missing time on the Tube? Cheers.

This happens to loads of people on public transport actually. Boring environment, repetitive motion, your brain goes into autopilot. You're not glitching out of the simulation - you're just experiencing normal human attention. It's called 'highway hypnosis' on roads, probably 'Underground dissociation' on the Tube.

I've experienced exactly this on the Northern Line. Except my watch showed I'd been on the train for 12 minutes instead of the expected 5, but only one stop had been announced. When I asked another passenger he looked confused and said we'd been moving the whole time. Either my watch was dodgy or something weird was happening. I've got no explanation.

The Underground does emit some electromagnetic radiation from the third rail (DC power system), but nothing that would cause temporal distortion or memory loss. More likely explanation: human consciousness is weird and subjective time is a thing. Your brain can compress or expand subjective duration based on attention level.

Have you checked if your watch actually works properly? Phone's got the time as well - did you note that before getting on too? If two independent timekeeping devices confirm the anomaly, that's actually interesting. If it's just the watch, it's probably running fast.

I'm more interested in the 'no memory' part. Missing time is a classic phenomenon in UFO abduction reports, but it also happens with dissociative disorders and just regular sleep deprivation. How much sleep had you had? Were you stressed? The Underground in autumn gets depressing fast - could've triggered some kind of fugue state.
