Me, scrolling through Quirk Reports at 3am because sleep is for people without paranoia:

Phone battery at 7%
**Screen brightness at max**
**Every noise in the flat suddenly audible**
**Convinced the Wikipedia rabbit hole on Rendlesham Forest is going to solve everything**
**It won't**
**But maybe THIS article will**

Has anyone else got that curse where you read paranormal stuff late night and suddenly your house is making noises it never made before? The pipes are always loudest at 3am. That's science. Definitely not ghosts. Probably.

Me at 11pm: "I'm going to have a quick look at the forums"
Me at 3am: "DID YOU KNOW THERE'S SEVENTEEN DIFFERENT THEORIES ABOUT BORLEY RECTORY"
Me at 7am: "Why am I like this"

The 3am brain is a different creature. You read something mildly spooky at 3am and suddenly it's absolutely terrifying. Read the same thing at noon and you're like "yeah that's probably just wind" 😅

I've trained myself to never, NEVER read Quirk Reports after 9pm. My anxiety doesn't need the encouragement and my sleep schedule doesn't need the sabotage. Though I respect the commitment to spooky research at unholy hours. That's dedication.

The «Wikipedia rabbit hole on Rendlesham Forest« is too real. You start with one incident and suddenly you're five hours deep in declassified documents, atmospheric phenomena, and witness testimony. Best paranormal research happens this way though - unrestricted internet access and no sense.

Your pipes comment is both accurate and personally attack-y. I live in a Victorian terraced house and at 3am every floorboard sounds like footsteps. At noon I'm fine. At 3am I'm convinced I'm being haunted. It's the same house in both cases. Brain's just different.
