Possible Sasquatch tracks found in Scottish Highlands—anyone know the local community?

This might be completely daft, but I was hiking in the Cairngorms area (Speyside way, end of October) and found what looked like large primate prints pressed into mud near a loch. I have to emphasise I'm no expert in tracking, but these were significantly larger than a human footprint - maybe fourteen inches long? - and the stride was incredibly long.

The weird bit was the local ranger station had no explanation for them, which either means they don't exist (I misidentified them) or they're being discreet about what's actually in those mountains. I took photos on my phone but they're not brilliant quality, quite muddy.

I know Sasquatch is primarily a North American thing, but there's that whole "wildman of the Highlands" folklore, isn't there? Has anyone in this community got experience with Scottish paranormal cryptids or tracked large unknown primates in the UK? Would love to know if what I found is actually rare or if I'm just being a credulous tourist.

The Cairngorms have a seriously weird reputation among people who know them. There's loads of old folklore about something large moving through those mountains. Whether it's actual Sasquatch (unlikely) or some other unknown primate (more possible) or just folklore exaggerated over centuries (also very possible), I genuinely can't say. Post the photos? Even muddy ones might help identify what made the prints.

Fourteen inch footprints could be a large deer with unusual gait, or possibly a human with massive feet - some people do have genuinely unusual proportions. Without seeing the actual photos it's hard to say. But the fact that the ranger was evasive is interesting. They're probably trained to say nothing about anything unusual to avoid alarming tourists.

There's a whole subset of UK cryptozoology focused on Scottish sightings. The Morag (Loch Morar's creature), various bigfoot-adjacent reports from the Highlands, and endless stories about wild beasts. Most of it's folklore, but some of it's recent enough to be interesting. You might want to cross-post this to r/cryptozoology or contact a Scottish paranormal group specifically.

The wildman of the Highlands is definitely a real folklore tradition - there are historical accounts from centuries ago. Whether that means anything biologically is debatable, but it's interesting that this narrative's been consistent enough to suggest something is going on. Would absolutely like to see those photos.

Honestly, large unknown primates in isolated UK locations aren't as implausible as they sound. We have vast tracts of wilderness that are barely monitored. Something could theoretically hide there. But fourteen inch prints... that's substantial. Definitely share the images if you feel comfortable doing so.
