Right, so I'm still not entirely sure what I saw on the 15th of October while hiking near Kinder Scout. Was heading back toward Edale around 4:30pm when the light was getting proper dodgy, and I noticed something massive moving through the bracken about 200 metres away across the valley.

It was massive - easily 7 or 8 feet tall - and covered in dark brown fur. The gait was all wrong for a bear or anything normal. Long arms, distinctive hunch to the shoulders. My mate Dave was with me and he saw it too, though he reckons it was "probably just a person in fancy dress" which is bollocks because we were miles from anywhere.

The weird bit: when it noticed us, it stopped dead for about 10 seconds, then just... loped off into the mist. Properly loped. No human could move like that through that terrain. We didn't get photos because we were too gobsmacked, but I've got the exact GPS coordinates if anyone wants to investigate the area.

Mate, I live in the Peak District and I can tell you there are some seriously odd things that move about the high moorland. Most people just assume it's deer or wild ponies, but I've heard some strange vocalisations at night. Have you thought about going back with a thermal camera? Might pick something up.

Did it occur to you that this might have been a very large person? We've got some absolute units walking the Pennines these days, and with poor light and adrenaline, perception can get wonky. Not saying you didn't see something, just saying extraordinary claims and all that. Could've been a bloke in a bear suit for a film shoot, happens more than you'd think.

Oh brilliant, another Peak District sighting! I'm actually compiling data on British bigfoot encounters for a thesis I'm working on. Could you DM me those coordinates? The Kinder Scout area has had at least three credible reports in the last five years. Definitely something in those hills.

GPS coordinates are basically useless without the actual time-stamped data, just saying. But if you genuinely saw something unusual, the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organisation would probably be interested. They've got UK chapters now and proper protocols for this sort of thing.
