Just finished listening to episode 4 of The Frequency podcast (available on Spotify, six quid for six-month subscription) and I need to process it here because I'm genuinely unsettled.

They interviewed two former workers at Skinwalker Ranch who claim they witnessed electromagnetic phenomena so severe that it actually damaged electronic equipment. Not hypothetically - they've got repair records. The descriptions they give of the phenomena match accounts from the original Bigelow Aerospace investigation.

What gets me is the obvious fear in their voices. These aren't attention-seekers. These sound like people who saw something that frightened them. The host does a good job not leading them, just letting them describe what happened.

The counterargument would be that Skinwalker Ranch is famous for hoaxes and has attracted every paranormal charlatan in North America. But the psychological consistency across different witnesses is striking.

I listened to it. Good production values, but the podcast does exactly what everything Skinwalker Ranch-related does: treats folklore, claims, and documentation as equivalent to evidence. The people interviewed probably did experience something weird, but 'weird' doesn't mean 'paranormal.' It could be environmental (underground gas deposits, electromagnetic anomalies from geological features).

Fair review. I think the strength of that episode is it gives airtime to people who experienced something genuine and unpleasant, without demanding they explain it. Modern paranormal investigation is too binary - either it's all real or it's all fake. Sometimes weird things happen to normal people and that's worth documenting.

They've got repair records. The descriptions they give of the phenomena match accounts from the original Bigegelow Aerospace investigation.

Repair records for what though? Can you actually see the episode or are you trusting the podcast's representation of these records? Because that's the issue - secondary sources claiming records exist is not the same as the records being independently verified.

Skinwalker Ranch is basically the cryptozoology equivalent of flat earth at this point. The place is contaminated with so much hoaxing and attention-seeking that anything that happens there is impossible to evaluate. I'd be more interested in The Frequency's reporting on other sites that haven't been invaded by paranormal tourists.

Great review actually. You've described exactly why I find this stuff compelling - it's not the phenomena that interests me, it's the fact that people are genuinely frightened by something, and science hasn't got a good explanation for it yet. That's worth examining regardless of whether it's paranormal or just unexplained.
