"The Dark Hours: A Paranormal Deep-Dive" (podcast, available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, hosted by Jennifer Walsh and Marcus Chen)

I don't normally shill for podcasts, but this series has genuinely impressed me. It's not the usual sensationalism - Walsh and Chen take a single paranormal incident and spend 45-60 minutes properly investigating it. They interview witnesses, review documents, bring in sceptical analysis, and actually change their minds when evidence warrants it.

The autumn episode run focuses on seasonal paranormal activity, and honestly, the production values are top-notch. They've covered the Penrose case, a fascinating deep-dive into Spring-Heeled Jack sightings from a historical perspective (not just dismissing it as folklore), and a serious analytical look at the Rendlesham Forest incident that presents information I hadn't encountered before.

What impressed me most was Episode 7 ("The Lake District Creature") where they genuinely couldn't reach a conclusion, and they were honest about it. Spent 20 minutes discussing what they *didn't* know rather than forcing a narrative. That's integrity in paranormal research.

Fair warning: it's not quick entertainment. You need to pay attention. But if you're serious about understanding these incidents properly, it's absolutely worth your time. Free on most platforms (they have a Patreon for extras, but base content is entirely free).

Been listening to the whole run now and have to agree - genuinely thoughtful stuff. The Rendlesham episode particularly impressed me because they actually interviewed someone claiming to have new documentary evidence (can't say more due to ongoing verification), and they handled it with appropriate scepticism while taking it seriously. That's the balance most paranormal content completely botches.

The autumn episode run focuses on seasonal paranormal activity

Perfect timing as we head into the dark months, honestly. There's something about listening to paranormal discussions while it's properly dark and cold that just hits different. Not that that should affect credibility, but it definitely affects engagement.

The Spring-Heeled Jack episode is worth the subscription price alone. Most people treat SHJ as folklore, but Walsh does a proper historical analysis showing the Victorian press sensationalism versus actual eyewitness accounts. The distinction between myth and historical phenomenon is genuinely interesting, regardless of whether you think SHJ was real or not.

Where are they getting their interview subjects? The Penrose episode features someone claiming direct family connection to one of the original witnesses. If they're vetting these sources properly, that's remarkable access. If they're just platforming anyone with a story, that undercuts the credibility they've built elsewhere.
