Visiting Pendle Hill this weekend with some mates who think I'm mental for being interested in the witch trials. But honestly, the energy up there is peculiar. I've been twice now (August and last month), and both times I've felt watched on the ascent. Not scared exactly, just... aware.

Looking for anyone who's done proper paranormal investigations up there. Are the reports of apparitions and strange mists genuine, or is it all tourist nonsense? The historical weight of the place is undeniable - twelve people hanged - but does that automatically make it haunted?

Also keen to hear if anyone's had experiences on the actual hill itself versus the visitor centre. Cheers.

Pendle's got legitimate reports going back centuries, not just modern tourist stuff. The 'watched' feeling you're describing is common. I'd recommend going at dusk rather than midday if you want to test it properly. Bring a good torch though - it gets properly dark up there.

We did a full investigation in September with thermal imaging and EMF meters. Got some genuinely odd readings near the summit, particularly around the stone cairn. Nothing conclusive, but worth mentioning.

It's Lancashire folklore meets tourist attraction meets genuine historical tragedy. Of course people feel something - it's a heavy place. Whether that's actual paranormal activity or just human psychology reading atmosphere into landscape is the real question, innit.

The mists are real - I've photographed them multiple times in autumn. Could be natural fog or could be something else. The local guides won't touch the haunting question with a bargepole, which tells you something about the sensitivity of the area.
