Right, I've been saving up for ages and finally took the plunge on one of these Paranormal Panda thermal cameras everyone raves about. Thought I'd give you lot an honest review before someone asks.

The good: Build quality is solid, the thermal sensitivity is genuinely impressive, and the battery lasts a good 6 hours on a full charge. I used it on a ghost hunt round Pendle Hill last month and picked up some interesting temperature anomalies near the old witch trial stones.

The bad: The software is a right pain to navigate, and you basically need an engineering degree to export the footage in anything other than their proprietary format. Also, at £450, it's not exactly pocket change.

The verdict: If you're serious about thermal work and have the budget, go for it. But if you're just dipping your toe in, maybe consider the Seek Thermal first. Has anyone else got experience with this model?

Cheers for the review, mate. I've had mine for about 18 months now and honestly the software issue you mentioned gets worse with updates. Last patch actually made it slower. That said, the thermal sensitivity caught some proper unexplained heat signatures in our Bodmin Moor investigation that our old equipment completely missed.

This. A thousand times this. I contacted their support and got a response 3 weeks later telling me to 'update my drivers'. Absolute shambles. Still using mine though because the hardware is quality enough to overlook the rubbish customer service.

£450 for a thermal camera is actually pretty reasonable these days. I've seen proper professional-grade thermal equipment go for double that. The Paranormal Panda sits nicely in that sweet spot between amateur and serious investigator. Just make sure you've got proper training before using it on investigations - thermal work isn't straightforward.

Has anyone tried the newer Panda 4000 that came out last month? Supposedly fixed the software issues but I haven't seen any proper reviews yet.
