Hi everyone! Just joined Quirk Reports after lurking for a few weeks. I'm from Manchester originally, now living in Sheffield. Been interested in the paranormal stuff for ages but never really found a proper community to chat with about it - my mates think I'm mad for being interested in UFOs and cryptids.

What got me started was seeing something unexplained about five years ago during a night out in the Peak District. A light in the sky that didn't behave like anything I'd seen before. Moved way too fast, made no sound, and just... disappeared. I know it sounds cliché but it genuinely made me wonder what else might be out there that we don't have explanations for.

Looking forward to having actual conversations with people who take this stuff seriously without being dismissive. I'm the type who likes to look at evidence critically though - not just believe everything, but keep an open mind. Hope that attitude fits with the community here. Cheers!

Welcome mate! You'll fit in fine here - we've got a good mix of believers and skeptics which keeps things honest. The Peak District is actually a bit of a hotspot for sightings, so your experience definitely fits a pattern. Have a look through the archives, there's some really interesting documented incidents in that area. You'll find your people here.

Don't let your mates get you down. Most paranormal communities are actually full of rational people who just accept that there's more to reality than mainstream science acknowledges yet. Some of the best contributors on here are proper scientists - physicists, engineers, that sort of thing. The critical mindset is definitely appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! Fair warning though - it can get a bit intense sometimes. We've had some proper heated debates about government conspiracies, whether aliens are real, cryptid classifications, etc. People are generally civil but don't expect total agreement on anything. That's kind of the fun of it though. Jump into whatever threads interest you and don't be shy about asking questions.

Peak District sighting, nice. There's been a cluster of activity around Mam Tor and Lose Hill that's worth checking out - loads of reports from walkers over the years. If you're local to Sheffield, you should definitely get involved with the Yorkshire paranormal group. They do regular investigation nights. Might be worth connecting with them for future sightings. Again, welcome aboard!
