Hiya all, I'm Marcus from Leeds. My mate dragged me to this forum after I said "ghosts probably aren't real" at the pub last week. Fair play to him, I was being a bit dismissive.

Full transparency: I work in IT, I like evidence and data, and I think most paranormal stuff has logical explanations. BUT - and this is important - I also think it's worth investigating claims properly, which is more than most people do.

I'm genuinely curious about the methodology here. How do you lot separate the wheat from the chaff? What's the most compelling case you've seen?

Not here to be annoying, just keen to understand the other side.

Welcome mate! Honestly, we need more skeptics. The Rendlesham Forest incident is probably the best documented case - multiple military witnesses, radar evidence, the lot. Still can't explain it satisfactorily. That's where I'd start.

Leeds! Have you been to Pendle Hill? Absolutely rammed with paranormal activity. Witches, hauntings, the works. If you're serious about this, that's a good weekend trip for investigation.

We don't, that's the problem. This community is like 40% genuine researchers, 40% believers looking for confirmation bias, and 20% absolute muppets selling dodgy equipment on the marketplace. But the genuine 40% is worth the rest.

You sound exactly like I was five years ago. Then I had an experience I couldn't explain and it changed everything. You'll either have one or you won't. Either way, stick around - this forum's better than most.
