Massive bird-like creature near Bodmin Moor, 3 nights ago. Genuinely shaken.

I know this is going to sound absolutely bonkers, but I need to get it down while it's fresh. Three nights ago (Wednesday, around 22:30) I was driving back from Wadebridge to my flat in Bodmin. The road was empty, weather was clear, full moon.

As I came around the bend near Blisland, something massive moved across the road in front of me. I slammed on the brakes - this thing was the size of a person, maybe bigger. Dark, definitely feathered or fur, with wings. Not a normal bird. The proportions were all wrong. It moved in this jerky, unnatural way and then just... launched into the trees.

The whole thing lasted maybe three seconds but it's been in my head constantly. I'm not mental, I'm not on drugs, and I've driven that road a hundred times. I know what I saw wasn't normal. Has anyone reported anything similar in the Bodmin area? Or am I the only one who's seen this thing?

"The whole thing lasted maybe three seconds"
In three seconds at night while driving, you've made a positive ID of an unknown creature's features. That's... unlikely. Even if something crossed the road, your brain fills in details when you're startled. Could've been a large owl, a heron, a fox that looked bigger due to angle and adrenaline.

MoorlandMysteries: Actually, there have been reports of large bird-like creatures on Bodmin for years. The "Bodmin Beast" folklore mentions winged creatures as well as the cat-like animal. I'm not saying you saw anything impossible, but you're definitely not alone in reporting this. Have you considered contacting local paranormal groups?

DriveTime_Dave: How fast were you going? I ask because at speed, perspective gets weird. A normal-sized bird can look massive if it's suddenly right in front of your windscreen. Your body's fear response also makes things seem bigger. I'm not calling you a liar - I'm saying the human brain is unreliable when surprised.

WildlifeWatcher_Jo: Could it have been an escaped raptor? There are people who keep massive birds of prey - hawks, eagles, owls. They do escape, they can look very strange in moonlight, and they move in that jerky way you described. It might not be cryptid-related at all.

TrueExperiencer_Ray: Don't let these skeptics make you doubt yourself. I had something similar happen to me near Dartmoor in 1998 - something massive and wrong moving through the trees. Never saw it clearly but I KNEW it wasn't normal. People who haven't experienced it don't get it. Your experience is valid.
