Cheers for the heads up - always better to know in advance rather than trying to load the site and thinking something's gone wrong on my end.
Honestly, planned downtime like this is far preferable to the alternative. Nothing worse than being mid-thread on something interesting and having the connection just drop without explanation. Had that happen on a couple of other forums over the years and it kills the momentum of a good discussion.
Saturday works fine for me. I tend to be out doing fieldwork at weekends anyway - got a site in the Shropshire hills I've been meaning to revisit for a few months now, so the timing's actually quite convenient. Might finally get round to it.
One thing I'd ask the admins - is there any chance of getting an estimated time for when things will be back up? Even a rough window would help. If it's morning I'll make sure I've saved any draft posts I'm working on before I go out. Currently halfway through a fairly lengthy write-up on some localised EMF anomalies I've been logging and it'd be a shame to lose the draft.
Appreciate the transparency from the team. Hopefully the maintenance sorts whatever needs sorting and we come back with things running a bit smoother.
Anyone else using the downtime productively? Good opportunity to get outside rather than being glued to a screen - there's plenty of strange phenomena that won't document itself.
