Just had a genuinely odd experience on the Central Line at Aldwych (the disused one) on a heritage tour. Not gonna claim it was a ghost or anything, but the temperature drop in one particular section was noticeable enough that other people on the tour mentioned it too. Got me thinking about whether the Tube has more paranormal reputation than it deserves, or if there's actually something to it.

Anyone got experiences at other stations? I've read that King's Cross has reports, Bethnal Green's got history from the disaster in 1943, and there's odd stuff around Covent Garden too. Curious whether it's legitimate or whether underground + old + dark = everyone's a bit jumpy.

UndergroundHistory: Temperature drops in the Tube are actually pretty normal - there's temperature variation between lines due to ventilation systems and depth. Not saying nothing odd happens, but that specific example is probably explainable. That said, some stations definitely have more reported activity than others, and the Bethnal Green disaster is documented history with real tragedy, so emotional weight makes sense.

LondonGhost: I do paranormal walks for tourists (it's a living) and I've got dozens of reports from various stations. Nothing dramatic or verifiable, mostly just feelings of unease or seeing shadows. King's Cross has consistent reports from staff working late shifts, which is interesting because they have no reason to embellish. Whether that's genuinely paranormal or just the creepiness of empty underground tunnels at 2am, can't say for certain.

This sums up why I'm skeptical. Feelings and shadows aren't evidence. I work on the Northern Line and yes, it's eerie at night, but I've never experienced anything that couldn't be explained by tiredness, noise, and darkness. Humans are pattern-recognition machines - we see faces in toast and ghosts in shadows.

VictorianLondon: The thing about the Tube is it's literally built over older London. Plague pits, Roman roads, medieval burial grounds - layers upon layers. That's got to count for something energetically, surely? Not every paranormal experience needs video evidence.
