Posting this with some trepidation because I know how it sounds. On 28th October, around 19:30, I was walking on the moors above Haworth with my partner. Clear evening, good visibility despite it being dusk. We saw something that I genuinely cannot explain.

At roughly 200 metres distance, uphill from us, there was a figure. Easily 7-8 feet tall, bipedal, covered in dark hair or fur. It wasn't a person in a costume (I've handled enough fabric in my work to know the difference). It wasn't a bear or any animal I could identify. It was there, it moved with purpose, and then it wasn't.

My partner wants to forget about it. I can't stop thinking about it. I've looked up every explanation - bears (none in Yorkshire), tall people (not possible at that height), hoaxes (seemed too genuine, too fleeting). Has anyone else seen anything similar on the Yorkshire moors? I need to know if this is a known phenomenon or if I'm just losing it.

Yorkshire moors have a long history of strange bipedal encounters. Most are likely misidentifications, but there's definitely a pattern. Haworth's not too far from Pendle, and both areas have reports going back decades. Whether it's a flesh-and-blood creature or something more paranormal is the eternal question.

Description matches some reports of 'Black Shuck' or similar entities from Northern England folklore. Could be a cryptid, could be a tulpa (thought-form), could be a genuine unknown animal. The fact that both of you saw it (rather than just one person) gives it more credibility than most Bigfoot reports.

Perspective's interesting on uneven ground though. Distance is hard to judge. Height estimation from that range could be significantly off. Not saying you're lying, just saying that's the most likely explanation.

There are occasional reports of large primates in the British countryside, usually escaped or deliberately released animals. Orangutans, gorillas, chimps. Probably less likely than cryptid, but it's a possibility. Have you checked local news for any escaped animals in the weeks before your sighting?

Keep a record of the exact location, time, and any other details. If you see it again (or if similar sightings happen in the area), we can start building a proper database. These reports matter, even if official authorities won't touch them.

Honestly mate, the Yorkshire moors are genuinely unsettling places. Especially at dusk. Your brain might be doing some interesting things when you're in unfamiliar terrain at the edge of darkness. Not saying you didn't see something, just saying rural landscape + twilight + expectation of weirdness = ripe conditions for misinterpretation.
