I'm posting this because I genuinely don't know what else to do with it. I was hiking near Cairngorms with my partner on October 23rd, around 4:15 PM. The weather was clear, excellent visibility, maybe 5-10 km of sightline across the valleys.

We saw what I can only describe as a large dark object moving across the sky. It was completely silent, which is the most striking thing about it. Not like a drone - much larger, maybe the size of a small building when you imagine it properly. No visible lights, no marking, just this solid dark shape moving steadily from northwest to southeast.

We watched it for maybe two minutes before it disappeared behind a ridge. Neither of us had our cameras ready fast enough to get anything decent, just a couple of blurry mobile photos. My partner thinks I'm mad and wants to forget about it.

Has anyone in Scotland experienced anything similar recently? This wasn't a plane or a helicopter. I've flown plenty of times and seen aircraft up close. This was something else.

Two minutes is a decent observation window. Could you describe the shape more precisely? Triangular, rectangular, disc-like? Also did it make any sound whatsoever or was it completely silent? That's often the distinguishing feature for genuine UAPs versus conventional aircraft.

Cairngorms gets quite a lot of RAF traffic actually. Typhoons regularly do training runs through that area and they can look very odd when you're underneath them and they're at certain angles. The silence thing is normal too - jet noise travels but not necessarily downward.

Just a couple of blurry mobile photos
Any chance you could share them? Even blurry ones can sometimes be analysed. Also note down as much detail as you can remember while it's fresh: colour, exact direction, speed relative to clouds, any sound at all. You'd be surprised what details matter.

This area has genuinely high UAP activity. Look up the Rendlesham Forest incident - similar patterns reported there back in the day. The Highlands have had loads of reports going back decades. Possibly related to whatever's at Fort William or the American base at Prestwick. Worth reporting to MUFON Scotland.

RAF training runs can look very strange indeed, especially to someone not familiar with military aircraft. Typhoons at certain angles and altitudes can look almost otherworldly. But worth reporting either way - even if it turns out to be conventional, the MOD needs to know about sightings for flight safety purposes.

Could've been a weather balloon or even a military surveillance balloon. Those things are genuinely weird looking and people always assume UAP. The government definitely uses those things and doesn't tell anyone. Worth checking if there were any notices about airspace restrictions that day.
