Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum (registered today, still getting used to how everything works). I've been interested in paranormal phenomena for about fifteen years, particularly the Rendlesham Forest incident and related RAF/government involvement in UFO cases. I'm in the Midlands, so I'm close enough to make trips to research sites when I've got time.

I don't have any major encounters to report myself, though I've had a few odd experiences I'm not quite sure about. I'm more interested in the research and analysis side of things - reading accounts, looking at documentation, trying to piece together what actually happened.

I was wondering if anyone could point me toward some good starting points on here? I've looked through a few of the threads but there's obviously years of accumulated posts and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. Any advice for a newcomer?

Welcome! Rendlesham's a great starting point because it's well-documented and genuinely interesting. Check out the "Government Disclosure & Documents" forum - there's a sticky post with links to the Halt Memorandum and related official reports. Also have a look at "Books, Documentaries & Podcasts" because there's a brilliant breakdown of the best Rendlesham-specific resources.

The search function is your friend. Type in "Rendlesham" and you'll get a hundred threads. Most of them are decent quality discussion from people who know the subject well. Don't feel like you need to read everything at once - just jump into threads that interest you. People are generally friendly here and happy to discuss details with newcomers who are genuinely curious.

If you're in the Midlands, you're also close to some interesting locations - Malvern has some sightings history, and there's general activity across Shropshire and Herefordshire that doesn't get as much attention as it should. You might want to start exploring local cases as well as the famous ones like Rendlesham.

Fair warning: this community has some genuinely skeptical people alongside the believers. That's actually healthy - it keeps discussions grounded. Don't be put off if someone challenges your thinking. The best threads are the ones where multiple perspectives are presented respectfully. Welcome aboard.

Also check the "Sightings & Reports" forum to see if there's anything interesting near you in the Midlands. Sometimes local reports don't get much attention on the national level, but they can reveal patterns if you look closely. Good luck with your research!
