Right, just joined and I'm trying to get my bearings. I've been interested in the paranormal for a while - listened to some podcasts, read a few books - but I'm genuinely unsure what the consensus is on Quirk Reports.

Are we all believers here? Are there skeptics? How do you handle disagreements? I ask because I've been on other forums where one viewpoint dominates completely and you get shouted down for asking critical questions. I'm hoping this place is different.

Also, what are the current hot topics? I see a lot of posts about Skinwalker Ranch and Rendlesham Forest. Are those the big ones, or is there something else people are focused on right now?

Cheers in advance. Trying to be a genuine participant, not just a lurker.

Welcome! We've got a real mix here - some hardcore believers, some absolute skeptics, and most of us somewhere in the middle. The forum generally works best when people back up their claims and engage respectfully with disagreement. Yeah, you get the occasional flame war, but mods are pretty good at stepping in. Enjoy the chaos!

The honest answer is that we're mostly believers with a healthy skeptical undercurrent. Most people who join paranormal forums are here because they believe something exists that mainstream science dismisses. But the best discussions happen when someone challenges claims, because it forces better reasoning. Don't hold back with the critical questions - that's how we separate signal from noise.

That won't happen here, or at least not often. We have some genuinely smart skeptics (usernames like LogicalFallacy and RationalDave) who engage seriously with believers, and the best threads are where they hash things out properly. The forum culture respects intellectual honesty more than dogmatism.

Current hot topics are the recent triangle sightings over Manchester, the poltergeist activity clusters in Essex, and ongoing Rendlesham analysis. There's also been a revival of Mandela Effect discussion in the simulation theory section. But honestly, just browse the forums and see what catches your interest. The paranormal is broad - you'll find your niche.

One tip: read the sticky posts first. There are rules about evidence standards and civility that make this forum better than most. And if you want to report something yourself, the Sightings & Reports forum has a template that helps gather actual useful information rather than vague impressions. Welcome aboard!
