Hi all! I'm Sarah, 28, and I've just moved to Bodmin after my job went fully remote. I've always been fascinated by paranormal stuff - my mum was into it ages ago - but never really had the time or energy to actually do anything about it. Now that I'm living in Cornwall, I thought I might as well check out some of the local haunted spots!

I've got zero experience with investigations though, so I'm a bit nervous about just showing up to places on my own at night. Are there any local Quirk Reports members who do regular meets or investigations? I'm also quite keen to understand what's actually likely to happen versus what's just entertainment nonsense.

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome to Quirk Reports, Sarah! You've picked a cracking spot for paranormal activity - Bodmin's got some brilliant history. There's definitely a few active members down your way. Recommend joining our Discord and asking in the regional chat section - you'll find people to investigate with and you won't have to go solo into some creepy old building at midnight, which is sensible.

Fair warning: a lot of what gets hyped online about Bodmin Moor is tourist nonsense. But there's also some genuinely weird stuff that never gets proper investigated because it's not dramatic enough for YouTube.

- there are! Check the 'Haunted Locations' section for the Bodmin Moor thread. There's been a group meeting up roughly monthly since last summer. Really friendly lot. Fair mix of believers and sceptics which is good.

You'll find it's mostly just standing about in the dark waiting for something to happen, occasionally getting properly spooked by a badger or a strange noise that turns out to be the wind. But occasionally... occasionally something genuinely weird occurs and you remember why you're doing it. Good luck!
