Hi everyone, I'm Sarah, 34, from Bristol. I've been lurking on Quirk Reports for about 6 months now and finally decided to properly join because I've got something I need advice on.

I've never been particularly 'into' paranormal stuff until recently. I'm not one of those people who sees ghosts everywhere or believes in every UFO video on YouTube. But about 3 months ago, some genuinely weird things started happening in my house - objects moving, weird sounds at specific times, that sort of thing. I've had engineers round to check the plumbing and electrics and everything's fine. My mates think I'm mad.

I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist or anything, but I'd really like to understand what's going on. Are there any locals from the Bristol area who might be able to help? Or any advice for a complete newcomer? I'm equal parts terrified and curious.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is a bit rambling!

Welcome to the forum, Sarah! Don't be nervous, you're in good company here. We've got loads of members who've had similar experiences. First bit of advice: keep a detailed log of what's happening - dates, times, what exactly you experienced, weather conditions, anything unusual. That information is gold.

Second bit: there are some proper investigators in the Bristol area. I can ask around and see if anyone's willing to have a look. If you DM me your location I can point you towards some local groups. Don't go trying anything fancy yourself yet - just observe and document.

Hi Sarah! Welcome. Quick tip: before jumping to the paranormal explanation, have you considered things like infrasound (very low frequency sound that humans can't hear consciously but can feel), gas leaks, or even underground water? I'm not saying you're mad - I'm saying rule out the boring stuff first because it's usually the answer. Once you've done that, THEN we can talk ghosts.

Objects moving is definitely worth investigating properly. Have you set up any cameras or recording devices? Sometimes what seems impossible to explain in real-time makes perfect sense when you review footage. Also, what kind of objects are moving? That detail matters.

Don't apologise! This is literally what the lounge is for. Bristol's got a decent paranormal community, so you've picked a good area to ask. The activity you're describing could be anything from structural settling to genuine poltergeist activity. Honestly, odds are it's something quite mundane, but you won't know till you investigate properly. Welcome aboard!
