The dogs going quiet is what gets me about this. Mine do exactly that - not barking, just total silence and staring at the ceiling. I've logged three separate incidents over the past two years in Shropshire where the pattern was identical. Something on the roof, dogs freeze, and there's this odd pressure change you can almost feel in your ears.

What were the weather conditions like? Barometric pressure drops have come up repeatedly in accounts I've cross-referenced and I suspect there's something there worth investigating properly rather than just chalking it up to thermal expansion of roof timbers or whatever the sceptics want to say.

Also the footfall pattern matters quite a lot here. Evenly spaced, or irregular? Bipedal or more of a skittering? These details sound mundane but they really do help narrow things down. Would be curious what others on here have logged because this type of report comes up more often than people realise.
