Right so this hits way too close to home. Had something similar last year, just outside Bergen, and my dog (big german shepherd, not easily spooked) literally sat by the door whimpering and refused to budge until like 6am. Whatever it was, he could smell or hear it way before I could.
The roof thing is what gets me though. What kind of animal walks on a roof like that? Foxes can jump but they dont exactly stroll around up there. And if it was a bird you'd hear wing flapping not footsteps.
Dogs are supposed to be braver than us in these situations and when they tap out completely it usually means something is genuinely off. Did you notice anything the next morning, marks on the roof or in the garden? Really curious what you found or didn't find, sometimes the nothing is worse than something tbh.
