Man, New Orleans does NOT play around when it comes to weird stuff on rooftops. Had something similar about two years ago, heavy deliberate footsteps, way too spaced out to be a raccoon or possum. Whatever it was had a long stride.
The thing that got me was the weight of it. You can tell the difference between an animal scurrying and something that actually has mass pressing down on your roof tiles. Did you notice anything like that?
Also - did it stop at any point and just... sit there? Mine did. Went completely quiet for like 10 minutes then started up again on the other side of the house. Never figured out what it was and honestly the not knowing is the worst part.
