Seriously though, maintenance nights always seem to coincide with peak weirdness. Last time this site went down I had three separate witnesses trying to submit accounts simultaneously and had to resort to jotting everything down in a Google Doc like some kind of digital cave painting. Not ideal when you're trying to capture the fine details of a sighting before memory degrades.
A few practical questions for whoever's running the show:
Rough ETA on how long the downtime will last? Even a ballpark ". A few hours". Vs ". Could be all night". Would help, Will the submission forms be affected, or just browsing? Some folks panic when they can't immediately log a report, Any chance of a cached/read-only version during the window?
Worth reminding everyone to maybe screenshot or save any threads you're actively following before Saturday rolls around - particularly anything with ongoing witness testimonies. Nothing worse than losing context mid-investigation.
Also, if anyone's got a BEK encounter they've been sitting on and planning to post, maybe get it up before Saturday night rather than after. Consider this your nudge. Aberdeen's had some odd reports lately and I'd hate for anything to go undocumented just because the site's having a lie-in.
