Has anyone tried the new SB7 Spirit Box on the Yorkshire moors yet?

Right, so I've just invested about £180 in one of those newer SB7 Spirit Boxes after my old digital recorder packed in. Supposed to be brilliant for EVP work, supposedly filters out radio interference better than the older models.

I'm planning a trip up to Pendle Hill in Lancashire next month and thought I'd give it a proper test run. Before I head out with it though, has anyone on here actually used one? Any tips for getting the best results? I've done loads of ghost hunting over the years but I'm a bit rusty with the newer kit.

Also, what's everyone's experience been with location preparation? Should I be doing salt lines, blessing the space, or is that all a bit too woo-woo for serious investigation?

Got one about 6 months ago and honestly, mate, it's been decent but not revolutionary. The filtering is definitely better than the old white noise boxes. Main thing is you need dead silence around you - even a slight breeze will set it off. I found using it in basements worked better than outdoors because of ambient noise.

Pendle Hill should be crackin for that. Loads of activity reported there over the years. Skip the salt lines unless you're actually getting something aggressive - most of the time it's just the spirits having a chat, not trying to possess you. That said, I always bring a torch and tell whatever's there I'm doing this respectfully. Can't hurt, costs nothing.

Both approaches have merit, but honestly the best preparation is knowing your location's history inside out. Research what happened there, who died, when. Spirits seem to respond better when you actually know who you're talking to rather than just broadcasting into the void.

I'd avoid Pendle Hill if I were you. Not because of ghosts, but because you'll have about 200 hikers there on a Saturday and your spirit box will pick up their mobile phone signals for hours. Go midweek early morning if you can. Also the SB7 batteries drain fast in cold weather - bring spares.
