Has anyone investigated reports on Bodmin Moor? Summer sightings seem odd timing-wise

Right, this is probably daft, but I've been reading through old Fortean Times archives - yes, yes, I know - and there's a peculiar cluster of Bigfoot-adjacent reports from Bodmin Moor in late June and early July, mostly between 1997 and 2003. Usually you'd expect winter activity (food scarcity, animals on the move), but these are summer solstice period sightings.

Most reports describe something massive moving through the moorland at dusk, leaving track marks in boggy areas. One witness mentioned it was 'taller than a horse and covered in dark fur.' Obviously this could just be a large deer or escaped animal, but the consistency is interesting. Has anyone on here actually been out to investigate the area? I'm thinking of organizing a summer trip if there's interest, maybe June time.

Any Cornish members got local knowledge?

I'm from near Bodmin and I can tell you the locals definitely talk about something out on the moor. My nan swore she saw something massive near Rough Tor back in the early 2000s. Never seen any actual evidence though - lots of tourists, lots of misidentified ponies. Summer's probably when you get more walkers out there, so more potential witnesses. Worth investigating, mate.

The summer solstice thing is interesting actually. If there's a population of unknown primates in the UK, the longer daylight hours might affect their behaviour - less active foraging, more territorial displays maybe? Just spitballing here, but it's worth considering before you assume it's all misidentification.

Bodmin Beast was supposed to be a big cat though, wasn't it? Different creature entirely. Don't think there's ever been solid Bigfoot evidence from Cornwall, just folklore about the Beast.

I'd genuinely be interested in joining an expedition if you're organizing one. I've got thermal imaging equipment we could set up. The summer solstice period means we'd have decent light until nearly 10 PM, which helps. Let's see if we can get a team together.
