Not my area usually but this is giving me serious Mothman vibes and I am absolutely here for it. The Appalachians have always had that weird energy - like the land itself is older and stranger than anywhere else in the US. Big bird shadows though, are we talking "that was probably just a turkey vulture" big or "I need to sit down" big? Because there's a massive difference and I feel like the details matter here. Anyone got photos or is this purely eyewitness stuff so far? Also curious if the sightings cluster around any particular valleys or ridgelines, that kind of geographic pattern is usually the first clue something proper weird is going on.
Has anyone else seen unusually large bird shadows in the Appalachians lately?
