Genuinely curious about this because it's not the first time I've seen the railway correlation come up. Back in the 80s there was a cluster of strange sightings reported along an old disused line outside Antrim and nobody could make proper sense of it at the time.
My question is whether anybody has actually mapped these incidents properly. Not just "it was near a railway" but actual coordinates, the age of the line, whether the line follows older paths like drove roads or ley alignments. That matters. A lot.
Because if these things are territorial or using specific corridors to move, that tells us something useful. If its just coincidence and people happen to be near railway lines because railway lines are everywhere, thats a different conversation entirely.
Has anyone done serious fieldwork on this rather than just collecting reports secondhand? And has anyone checked whether the sightings cluster around active lines, disused ones, or both? That distinction seems important to me and I havent seen anyone address it directly.
