Been noticing this pattern for a while now and it's genuinely got me curious. There's a cluster of Dogman reports from the US Midwest that keep coming up near disused or active rail corridors and I can't work out if that's just coincidence or something more deliberate.
My theory is that old rail lines create these long uninterrupted corridors through woodland and rural areas, basically acting like wildlife highways, and if something large and predatory exists it would absolutely use those routes. Same reason big cats get spotted near motorway verges over here.
What I can't figure out is whether the sightings cluster near the lines because the creature uses them, or because thats where humans are most likely to be at odd hours and therefore most likely to have an encounter.
Has anyone done any proper mapping on this? I've seen a few rough overlays on other forums but nothing rigorous. Would be really interested to know if the same pattern shows up in the UK with big cat reports or anything similar.
