Yeah this has been on my radar for a while actually. Theres a real cluster of reports along old industrial rail routes, especially up north, and I think people are sleeping on how significant that pattern is.
My theory is its less about the rail lines themselves and more about the land around them - abandoned corridors, overgrown embankments, nobody goes near them for decades. Perfect territory for something that wants to stay hidden. Rail companies bought up massive strips of land back in the day and when the lines closed that land just sort of got forgotten.
Would love to know if anyone's mapped this properly. Like genuinely cross-referenced sighting reports with historical rail maps. If someone hasnt done that yet it feels like a project worth doing. Anyone from the US noticed the same thing or is this more of a UK pattern?
