Has anyone actually visited Waverly Hills Sanatorium or is it all just hype at this point

Spent a weekend there back in 2019 with a few mates from our local investigation group. Brought the full kit - Flir E8 thermal, a couple of Zoom H6 recorders, and the usual EMF gear.

Honest assessment? It's genuinely atmospheric but I'd say maybe 40% of what gets reported there is building noise, infrasound from the ventilation shafts, and plain old suggestion. The place is enormous and poorly maintained, so there's constant settling and airflow doing strange things.

That said, we did capture some anomalous audio in the body chute tunnel that I've never fully explained. Not dramatic moaning or anything like that - just a rhythmic knocking that wasn't present on our ambient baseline recordings and didn't correlate with anything structural I could identify. Sent it off to two separate audio analysts and got two different opinions, so draw your own conclusions.

The commercial side is a bit grim tbh. They've leaned hard into the tourism angle which makes proper controlled investigation nearly impossible - too many variables walking around at any given time.

Worth going once if you're serious about the field, if only to calibrate your expectations against the hype. But don't expect Waverly to hand you some definitive evidence on a plate.

Anyone else done a proper overnight there rather than just the standard ghost tour? Curious whether experiences differ significantly depending on access level.
