I've been absolutely fascinated by the Nazca Lines for years even though my main thing is ghost hunting rather than ancient mysteries. But something about them just pulls you in doesn't it.
The landing signal theory does make a kind of sense to me, like why else would you make something so enormous that you can only really see it properly from the air? The people who made them couldn't have seen the finished designs themselves, which I find mind-bending honestly.
But then I've also read that some researchers think they were ceremonial, maybe connected to water sources or religious processions. Could both things be true at once?
Has anyone here looked into the work of Maria Reiche? She spent decades studying them and had some interesting ideas. I'm probably well out of my depth here as I'm more comfortable with a torch and a cold church than ancient Peru, but I'd love to hear what people who know more about this think. Are there any good documentaries or books you'd recommend for a beginner getting into this?
