Did the Nazca Lines actually work as some kind of landing guide or am I overthinking this

Honestly the landing guide theory is the one that keeps me up at night because how else do you explain lines that long only making sense from the air?? Been doing ghost hunts round Whitby for years and even I know that when something's designed to be seen from above, theres usually a reason for that. The sheer scale of it just screams "this was for something bigger than us looking down at our feet." Would love to do a spirit box session out there one day, bet the energy would be absolutely mental. What does everyone else reckon, are we overthinking it or is mainstream archaeology just too scared to go there?
