Did the Minoans have contact with civilisations beyond the Mediterranean?

Been thinking about this a lot lately after going down a rabbit hole on the Phaistos Disc. The symbol set on that thing has never been convincingly matched to any known Mediterranean script, and some researchers have pointed out loose parallels with Indus Valley glyphs. Now I'm not saying they had trade routes to the subcontinent, but the Bronze Age maritime networks were far more extensive than mainstream archaeology tends to admit.

The Minoans were brilliant sailors. If Phoenicians could reach Britain for tin, why couldn't Minoan merchant vessels have pushed further east through the Persian Gulf connections? There's also that persistent thread about Minoan-style frescoes turning up in Tell el-Dab'a in Egypt which at least proves they were operating across substantial distances.

What I'd love to know is whether anyone here has looked into the Kerma culture in Nubia during roughly the same period. Some of the trade goods recovered there have origins that still aren't fully accounted for. Could be nothing, could be part of a much wider network than we currently map out. Would be genuinely interested what others think.
