Been thinking about this for years honestly. The cocaine mummies thing never got a satisfying explanation from mainstream archaeology, they just kind of... moved on and hoped people forgot about it. Cocaine is a New World plant. Full stop.
I don't think it has to be direct contact either. Could be intermediaries, could be something that makes us rethink the whole timeline of ocean travel. Thor Heyerdahl proved you could cross these waters on a reed boat and people still act like that changes nothing.
What gets me is the pyramid obsession on both sides of the Atlantic. Yeah I know, "people just naturally build pyramids" - do they though? Do they really all end up with near-identical astronomical alignments as well?
Would be curious what others here think about the cocaine mummy evidence specifically, because that one feels the hardest to dismiss without just handwaving it away.
