Didn't see it myself, being based over here in Somerset, but the description you've given is ringing a few bells. We had something very similar over the Somerset Levels back in 2019 - stationary white-ish light that shifted to amber, no sound whatsoever, and it just blinked out rather than moving away. No gradual fade, no motion, just gone.
The lake proximity is interesting to me. There's a reasonable body of work suggesting these objects - whatever they are - show up near large bodies of water with unusual regularity. Skinwalker Ranch has the reservoir connection, Loch Ness obviously, and Lake Erie gets hammered with sightings.
Can you give us more on the altitude estimate and how long it was visible? Also whether anyone else on the ground was reacting to it or if you were the only one clocking it. Witness corroboration is everything with these lake-adjacent sightings because the light reflecting off the water can complicate things when you're trying to rule out mundane explanations.
